FatBoy's

Sean “FatBoy” Burke

Sean started FatBoy's out of his own kitchen in 2012, cooking Caribbean food the way it's made at home. The name stuck, the people kept coming back, and the family dinner got a lot bigger.

From a home kitchen to North Miami Beach

  1. 2012

FatBoy's starts in Sean's home kitchen. Wings, jerk and home-style Caribbean plates, sold to friends, neighbors, and the friends of neighbors.

  2. 2018

The storefront opens on NE 165th Street in North Miami Beach: a family-owned spot with 20-plus wing sauces, jerk chicken, oxtails and the jerk pasta people still ask about.

  3. 2020

FatBoy's wins an Emerging Business Award. The City of North Miami Beach recognizes the shop during Black Business Month and National Small Business Month.

  4. Now

Sean's cooking in drops: a short menu, made to order on set days, with pickup or delivery in Miami. First up is the jerk pasta.

“Family, flavor and connection have always been at the heart of every dish.”

Family

FatBoy's is family-owned and runs like it. You're not a ticket number. Come back twice and you'll be greeted like a cousin.

Flavor

Caribbean flavors and home-style cooking, made to order. If it isn't something Sean would serve at his own table, it doesn't go on the menu.

Connection

Food is how this family shows up for people, whether that's a Friday night plate or a turkey at Thanksgiving.

Feeding the neighborhood

FatBoy's has always given back to the community it cooks for. That part of the business isn't going anywhere.

  • Yearly back-to-school supply giveaway
  • Thanksgiving turkey donations
  • Free haircuts for kids
  • Outdoor community movie nights
